Amazon’s God of War Series Continues Casting Push with Key Norse Characters
Amazon Prime Video’s live-action adaptation of God of War continues to take shape, with a new wave of casting announcements confirming several pivotal characters from the Norse saga. Following earlier reveals, the series has now locked in actors for Thor, Odin, Mimir, and fan-favourite dwarves Brok and Sindri.
The growing ensemble signals Amazon’s clear commitment to adapting the Norse-era storyline introduced in God of War (2018) and expanded in God of War Ragnarök.
Thor and Odin Cast with Prestige TV Talent
Thor, the volatile and destructive Norse god, will be portrayed by Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, best known for his dramatic work in Severance. While unexpected on paper, the casting points toward a more layered interpretation of Thor, echoing the game’s portrayal of a deeply broken and violent enforcer rather than a traditional heroic figure.

Odin, the manipulative All-Father, will be played by Mandy Patinkin. Patinkin’s experience portraying morally complex and calculating characters aligns closely with Santa Monica Studio’s version of Odin, who is driven less by godly authority and more by paranoia, obsession, and control.
Mimir Joins the Live-Action Adaptation
Variety has also confirmed that Alastair Duncan will portray Mimir, the smartest man alive. Duncan previously voiced Mimir in the God of War games, making him one of the few cast members to carry over directly from the source material.

Mimir’s role as both narrator and philosophical counterweight to Kratos was central to the games’ storytelling, and retaining Duncan suggests Amazon intends to preserve that dynamic rather than reinvent it entirely.
Brok and Sindri Also Confirmed
Fan-favourite dwarven brothers Brok and Sindri are also officially part of the cast, with Danny Woodburn and Jeff Gulka taking on the roles respectively. Their inclusion confirms that the series will explore more than just the core gods, extending into the supporting characters that defined the emotional texture of the Norse saga.

Their presence also suggests the show may lean into the found-family elements that resonated strongly with players, balancing mythic conflict with quieter, character-driven moments.
The Norse Saga Awaits
With Thor, Odin, Mimir, Brok, and Sindri now confirmed, Amazon’s God of War adaptation is steadily assembling the key figures required to bring Ragnarök-era conflicts to live action. The casting choices so far suggest a focus on dramatic weight and character nuance rather than spectacle alone.
Amazon Prime Video has not yet announced a release window, and further casting announcements are expected as production continues.
