Streaming Wars Intensify As Disney+, Hulu & Max Partner Up

If you thought that modern entertainment meant that the days of cable are over, you may have more reason to reconsider now. Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery have announced a new streaming partnership that bundles the platforms of Disney+, Hulu, and Max in one convenient bundle.

While we may have just only gotten used to the fact that trying to get access to content meant subscribing to various content providers, this is more akin to a move backwards to the more traditional method back in the day. It is more significant that it is Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery joining forces, with both companies having large pieces of the pie already.

Disney+

Disney already has its own bundled offering that combines Hulu, ESPN+, and Disney+, but this new move trumps it all by adding even more content into the mix. Subscribers will be able to access an extensive library of content that includes the likes of ABC, CNN, DC, Discovery, Disney, Food Network, FX, HBO, HGTV, Hulu, Marvel, Pixar, Searchlight, and Warner Bros.

“On the heels of the very successful launch of Hulu on Disney+, this new bundle with Max will offer subscribers even more choice and value,” Joe Earley, president of direct-to-consumer at Disney Entertainment. “This incredible new partnership puts subscribers first, giving them access to blockbuster films, originals, and three massive libraries featuring the very best brands and entertainment in streaming today.”

“This new offering delivers for consumers the greatest collection of entertainment for the best value in streaming, and will help drive incremental subscribers and much stronger retention,” Warner Bros. Discovery’s JB Perrette, CEO and president of global streaming and games, added, “Offering this unprecedented entertainment value for fans across all the complimentary genres these three services offer, presents a powerful new roadmap for the future of the industry.”

While this partnership will be a tantalizing one for viewers to consider, the actual pricing for the bundle has not been revealed. However, it will involve both ad-supported and ad-free options, so a tiered system is to be expected.
