Street Fighter Film Adds Rapper 50 Cent as Balrog & Orville Peck as Vega

Translating a fighting game franchise into a live-action film, especially one filled with over-the-top moves and eccentric character designs, won’t be an easy feat, but Legendary Pictures is trying its hardest with the Street Fighter adaptation. The challenge lies in maintaining the essence of the source material without resorting to excessive modifications, and the cast is perhaps the most critical aspect. The latest to join the growing roster are fighters Balrog and Vega.

Curtis Jackson AKA 50 Cent will take on the significant role of the boxer Balrog as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The rapper and actor will bring more star power to the proceedings, and is apparently training up to do his own stunts as well. As for Vega, the character will be played by country singer Orville Peck. The two follow after the casting of Callina Liang as Chun-Li.

Aside from the three, we also know that Jason Momoa (Minecraft) will be playing the wild, green-skinned brawler Blanka. He is joined by Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before), who will play the fiery blonde Ken. As for Ryu, Andrew Koji (Warrior) will take up the mantle of one of the main faces of Capcom‘s franchise. As if that’s not enough, wrestling superstar Roman Reigns has been cast as the fearsome Akuma.

Street Fighter Gets Star Power

This eclectic and ambitious cast signals a shift toward a more high-budget, high-profile adaptation. The film will be directed by Kitao Sakurai, known for his work on The Eric Andre Show and several episodes of Twisted Metal. Production will be handled by Legendary in collaboration with Capcom, promising a strong blend of Hollywood spectacle and video game authenticity.

As of now, no plot details have been disclosed, but the film was officially slated for a March 2026 release. A new release date has not been set just yet. With such a lineup and bold creative direction, the latest Street Fighter movie could very well be the franchise adaptation fans have long been waiting for.
