Street Fighter Film Welcomes David Dastmalchian as Villain M.Bison

Slow but surely, the Street Fighter film adaptation being put together by Legendary Entertainment and Capcom is shaping into something intriguing and highly anticipated. Following the additions of the likes of Chun-Li (Callina Liang) , Balrog (50 Cent) and likely Vega (Orville Peck) to join an already stacked cast, one of the more iconic roles has now been filled. David Dastmalchian will be joining the Street Fighter movie as M. Bison.

As reported by Deadline, the 49-year-old will play a key role in this adaptation as a pivotal figure, which is not typically where audiences see the actor. Dastmalchian has been a frequent supporting face, seen in films like The Dark Knight, the Ant-Man franchise, The Flash, and The Suicide Squad.

The most recent leading role the actor has taken on was in the horror film Late Night with the Devil, where he showcased his charm and nuanced acting as host Jack Delroy.

M. Bison in the Street Fighter Film

For now, the actual plot of the movie is still unclear, but considering the source material, we can expect plenty of fisticuffs between all the colourful fighters in the roster. Sitting right at the top of the evil mountain is M. Bison, who is also known as Vega in Japan.

He leads the Shadaloo organisation and is keen on world domination, as villains typically are. For fans who have played through the numerous games in the franchise, the character is often a formidable foe, and we can expect the same in the film adaptation as well.

The many fighters that will hopefully step up to face M. Bison and other threats include the abovementioned characters, as well as Blanka (Jason Momoa), Ken (Noah Centineo), and Ryu (Andrew Koji). The wildcard that is Akuma is being played by WWE star Roman Reigns. The Street Fighter movie is helmed by The Eric Andre Show’s Kitao Sakurai.

For now, no set release date has been pencilled in for the film, but with more roles being filled recently, we will probably get something concrete in the near future.
