Ex-Rockstar Games Co-Founder Reveals New Project Absurdaverse

Absurd Ventures Reveals the World of Their Debut Game – Absurdaverse

If you are a fan of Rockstar Games, you would know the name Dan Houser. The creative driving force and writer of many of the successful games from the studio, including GTA V, Red Dead Redemption, and Bully. So when he left to establish his new studio, Absurd Ventures, in 2020, many continued to be curious about what was coming next, and now, the new open-world action-adventure title has been revealed to be Absurdaverse.

This open-world action-adventure game will be set in the brand-new universe of the same name. Houser confirmed that the game will have humour at its core, and it will be accompanied by animated projects to flesh out the universe further. More importantly, players will be meeting “some new kinds of heroes (and watch them suffer).”

Judging from the image shared by the official Absurd Ventures X/Twitter account, it seems like the characters are everyday people joined by more colourful individuals. It will be interesting to see just what Houser means by them being heroes and the kind of suffering that awaits. Narrative has always been a calling card for games that Houser worked on, and there is every chance that it will continue in that vein with Absurdaverse.

Recently, Absurd Ventures recruited dozens of former employees from Ascendant Studios, the developer behind Immortals of Aveum, and established a new studio called Absurd Marin to work on various projects. These include two other mysterious universes currently in development: Better Paradise and American Caper, with the latter being described as a “new crime fiction universe”.

As for the game itself, Absurdaverse remains a mystery aside from these scant details. Having Houser leading the project is always going to generate interest, but if his past track record is any indication, then we have every chance to welcome an interesting and enjoyable time whenever more is shown.
