Forget the Switch 2, Nintendo Reveals Alarmo — an Interactive Alarm Clock

While the world eagerly awaits any sighting of the Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo has once again gone against the mould by showing off its latest piece of hardware. It is tangentially related to games, but has more to do with our daily lives, and it is called the Alarmo.

Described as an interactive alarm clock, it allows users to “introduce a little play to your wake-up routine” and “start the day off right with fun animations, sounds, and characters from some of your favourite games.” Its ability to sense motion will also come in handy when it comes to snoozing or stopping the actual alarm with your movement.

Of course, the biggest draw would be the relationship to games that many love. Users can choose from 35 scenes inspired by Nintendo Switch games like Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. You can even link your Nintendo Account and use the built-in Wi-Fi to download additional titles like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons in free updates as they become available to add to the collection.

Those keen to track their sleep can also do so with the help of the Alarmo, as Nintendo shares:

You can also check Records to see how much you move around in your sleep, set an hourly chime themed to your chosen title, and change between Steady or Gentle Modes for your morning alarm. In Steady Mode, the alarm will gradually get more intense the longer you stay in bed, whereas Gentle Mode offers a more consistent intensity level. There’s also Button Mode for a more traditional, tactile “hit the snooze button” alarm clock experience. You can even use sleepy sounds to wind down with soothing music and sounds at your set bedtime.

If you hope to get your hands on the Alarmo, you need to be a Nintendo Switch Online member, and purchase online via the My Nintendo Store for US$99.99 when it becomes available.
