EA Reveals Battlefield 6 Battle Royale Mode: 100 Players, Instant-Death Circle

EA and Battlefield Studios confirm a new battle royale mode for Battlefield 6, featuring 100 players, squad-based combat, and destructive environments.

Battlefield 6 Confirms Battle Royale Mode

EA and Battlefield Studios have officially confirmed that Battlefield 6 will feature its own battle royale mode, adding another major franchise to the genre’s roster.

While the boom has slowed, EA believes the format still has staying power. The studio says the new mode will carry core Battlefield DNA, while introducing unique twists to distinguish it from rivals.

Core Features

Initial testing will take place in Battlefield Labs, with the following features confirmed:

  • 100 players, divided into 25 squads of four
  • A class-based system, with locked roles once a match begins
  • A circle mechanic where touching the boundary results in instant death, unlike other games, where players can briefly survive outside the zone
  • Loot crates will be scattered across the map, plus airdrop rewards for squads that complete objectives, which enemies can contest

Battlefield’s Signature Destruction

True to its identity, Battlefield’s destruction mechanics will play a central role. Players can demolish walls, collapse buildings, or create new pathways mid-match, introducing an extra tactical layer rarely seen in other similar experiences.

Release Window Unclear

EA has yet to confirm whether this particular mode will launch alongside the main game on October 10 or arrive later as a separate update. Speculation also continues over whether it could be released as a standalone free-to-play title, though this remains unverified.

For now, players can look forward to testing later this year through Battlefield Labs, where EA hopes to refine its ambitious take on an established formula.
