While the Call of Duty franchise have built its success on traditional multiplayer, the Zombies mode have certainly sunk its undead teeth into many over the years. And in a few days, Treyarch, Raven Software, and Infinity Ward will launch the third season of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 together with a brand new Zombie Map.
Shattered Veil will be the fifth installment in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies mode, and sees the return of many iconic features from the mode’s past. Most notably, is the return of Double Tap, which has not been featured in a Call of Duty game since 2015’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
Given the new perk system of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Double Tap doesn’t work the same way as in previous iterations. The basic effect the perk bestows upon the player is an increased rate of fire.

The major augments available to Double Tap are Double Jeopardy, which has a chance to kill low-health normal zombies instantly, Double Impact, which fires two bullets per shot, effectively doubling the player’s damage, and Double Standard, which allows all bullet weapons to deal double damage on any non-critical hit.
The minor augments are Double Time, which further increases the player’s fire rate, Double or Nothing, which gives weapons a chance to do double damage, or zero damage, or Double Play, which has a chance to return two bullets back into the player’s magazine after killing two enemies in quick succession.
Shattered Veil also sees the return of the Ray Gun MK II, a three-round burst variant of the iconic Ray Gun, first appearing in 2012’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. The Mark II also comes with its own variants, the first of which is the Ray Gun Mark II-W, which turns the wonder weapon into a submachine gun with a chance to ignite zombies.

The second variant is the Mark II-P, which makes the MK II take on the properties of a shotgun, which has a chance to spawn an invulnerability sigil. The final variant is the Mark II-R, a marksman rifle with an area of effect.
The second returning wonder weapon is the Wunderwaffe DG-2, first seen in 2008’s Call of Duty: World at War. No major changes have been made to the Wunderwaffe, which is still capable of taking out massive waves of zombies with a single shot.
Shattered Veil also introduces some new enemy types, both derivative of previous foes: the Elder Disciple and Toxic Zombies. Elder Disciples act as regular Disciples from 2020’s Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, but the power buffs they grant to regular zombies increase exponentially.
Toxic Zombies appear to act similarly to the Tormentors from Cold War. Immediately after spawning, they rush the player down and explode. After they’re killed, they leave a puddle of acid behind, which will damage the player.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 3 will launch on 2 April, and is available for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
