Capcom’s resurgence in the single-player gaming scene, particularly with its Resident Evil franchise, is unquestionable. Following the announcement of Resident Evil: Requiem, fan anticipation for the series has skyrocketed. And that’s not all, as the publisher has continually struggled to expand the franchise into the live-service space. Previous multiplayer attempts, such as Resident Evil: Resistance and Re:Verse, may have fallen short, but Capcom is once again expanding the horizons with a new mobile strategy title: Resident Evil: Survival Unit.
Following an initial teaser that described the game as a strategic experience, Capcom has officially unveiled a full 25-minute gameplay presentation. Developed by Korean studio Joycity, this is a real-time strategy (RTS) title set within a parallel timeline that runs alongside the events of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. The setup and tone are reminiscent of Resident Evil: Outbreak, offering a nostalgic nod for longtime fans.
What is Resident Evil: Survival Unit?
In Resident Evil: Survival Unit, players assume the role of one of Umbrella’s experiments who has awoken in a devastated Raccoon City. Tasked with surviving in this post-apocalyptic setting, players can recruit iconic characters from the Resident Evil universe via a gacha-based system.
Each character brings unique skills and specialisations to your squad. Combat revolves around a three-person team system, with real-time encounters demanding tactical decision-making to overcome the hordes of enemies.
Beyond combat, the game features exploration elements reminiscent of classic Resident Evil titles. Players will navigate ruined environments, solve intricate puzzles, and gradually fortify their base of operations, with each improvement offering strategic benefits during missions. Notably, the game will also introduce brand-new monsters exclusive to this title, expanding the series’ already terrifying bestiary.

Resident Evil: Survival Unit is scheduled for release in late 2025 on Android and iOS devices. Pre-registration is already available for those eager to dive into Capcom’s latest mobile endeavour. With its blend of strategy, survival horror, and character collection mechanics, this represents a new experiment for the iconic franchise that is a gamble, to say the least.
