Crimson Moon Arrives as Gothic Action RPG for PS5
ProbablyMonsters has officially lifted the curtain on Crimson Moon, a gothic action-adventure RPG set to launch on PlayStation 5 in 2026.
Unveiled during the latest State of Play, the project marks the studio’s next major step into the action RPG space, blending supernatural lore, expressive combat, and optional co-operative play into a dark, blood-soaked setting.
The game lies firmly within gothic fantasy, drawing on imagery of angels, demons, and ancient gods to frame a war-torn world struggling to survive.
A Cursed City and a Hybrid Protagonist
Players take on the role of a Nephilim, a human-angel hybrid aligned with the Order of the Crimson Moon. Their mission is to reclaim the fallen city of Gildenarch, a once-proud metropolis now overtaken by infernal corruption.
According to the revealed details, humanity once stood on the brink of extinction during an assault by the Infernal Legion. The Nephilim emerged from a forbidden union between man and angel, rallying humanity to repel the invasion. Now, that darkness has returned, and Gildenarch has become its epicentre.
District by district, players will push back the spreading Hellgrowth that consumes the city. Each cleared ward opens up new threats and escalating encounters, culminating in a confrontation with Solomon Moore, a vampire lord central to the city’s downfall.
Combat Built Around Mastery and Expression
Crimson Moon’s combat system leans heavily into parries, finishers, angelic abilities, and transformative powers. The design appears focused on high-stakes engagements that reward skill and improvisation rather than punishing repetition.
Players will prepare for missions from a central hub known as the Sanctus Clypeus. From the War Table, new incursions into Gildenarch are selected, with additional quests and threats unlocking as the campaign progresses. A Blacksmith allows for forging and upgrading weapons and armour, supporting deeper build customisation.
The structure suggests a mission-based loop, where each return to the city reshapes the battlefield as the Infernal Legion presses its advance.

Solo Play or Two-Player Co-Op
Crimson Moon supports both solo play and two-player co-operative sessions. Co-op dynamically adjusts enemy composition and difficulty, ensuring that missions remain challenging and responsive whether tackled alone or with a partner.
The core objective remains constant: purge the darkness and reclaim Gildenarch from demonic control.
Crimson Moon is currently in final development and is targeting a late 2026 launch exclusively on PlayStation 5.
