REPLACED Slips One Month Ahead of Launch
Few indie projects have endured as much scrutiny and anticipation as REPLACED. The cyberpunk action platformer from Sad Cat Studios and Thundeful has weathered years of development uncertainty, shifting timelines, and intense community curiosity. After finally reaching what appeared to be the home stretch, the studio has confirmed yet another delay.
In a statement, Sad Cat Studios announced that REPLACED will now launch on April 14, missing its previously announced March 12 release window. The delay affects both PC and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game.
Final Polish Over Rushing the Finish Line
According to the Cyprus-based team, the decision was not made lightly. While REPLACED is technically complete, the developers believe the final stretch has highlighted areas that would benefit from additional refinement.
As a small studio working on its debut title, Sad Cat Studios emphasised its desire to ensure that players experience a polished, stable version on day one. The extra few weeks will be dedicated to tightening performance, smoothing out lingering issues, and aligning the final build more closely with the original creative vision.
The team also pointed to the recently released Steam demo as a key factor in this decision. Community feedback, gameplay clips, and player reviews have provided valuable insight, prompting final adjustments to improve the overall experience.

Demo Remains Available
Despite the delay, players can still try REPLACED ahead of its new launch date. The demo remains live on Steam, offering a glimpse into the game’s neon-drenched world and fluid side-scrolling combat.
REPLACED is now scheduled to release on April 14, 2026, for PC and Xbox Series X|S. While another delay may test fans’ patience, Sad Cat Studios appears determined to prioritise quality over speed as it approaches the finish line.
