Digital Happiness Announces DreadOut 3, Southeast Asian Terror to Come in 2026

Continuing Its Successful Series, Digital Happiness Has Officially Announced Dreadout 3 for 2026.

When it comes to Indonesian horror games, there is perhaps no series more iconic than Dreadout from developers Digital Happiness. The games, with their mechanics reminiscent of Fatal Frame, have established themselves as one of the few Indonesian games to achieve global recognition. This is despite taking risks with introducing new and different elements in its sequel, and that is set to continue with the reveal of DreadOut 3.

Five years since the second game scared up some good fun, Digital Happiness has officially announced and introduced the newest chapter of their flagship horror game series with DreadOut 3. Dropping a bunch of screenshots and a debut trailer, we get to see protagonist Linda once more, albeit more grown up than the last time. The visual upgrades are also clear to see.

Linda’s role as the Keeper of the Dark now compels her to dive into an inter-dimensional abyss, tasked with finding the source of a power that threatens to disrupt the balance between light and dark. Digital Happiness promises a horror experience designed to make your skin crawl; judging from previous outings, they are more than likely to keep their word.

Not only does DreadOut 3 boast improved visuals, but it also comes with a variety of new features, including a dynamic day-night cycle, transitions between the world of the living and the dead, and a non-linear gameplay experience. The iconic Iris Phone camera remains Linda’s primary weapon, with the added bonus of customisable outfits that players can switch at will.

The game will be supported on the publishing front by Soft Source, who shared that “especially with a horror series like DreadOut, partnering with Digital Happiness to elbow into the saturated genre of horror to represent the culture and folklore of Southeast Asia, was a significant achievement for us as a Singaporean-based publisher.”

DreadOut 3 is slated for release in 2026 on PC via Steam, although a more specific launch window has yet to be confirmed. As anticipation builds, fans of the series can expect a deeper, more immersive horror journey that stays true to its roots while embracing new innovations.
