A Narrative-Driven Superhero Story Finds a New Platform
The dramatic superhero tale that is Dispatch has steadily built a dedicated following since launch. Developed by AdHoc Studio, a team formed by former Telltale Games developers, Dispatch blends branching narrative storytelling with light strategic management, asking players to assign a roster of superheroes to missions while navigating interpersonal drama behind the scenes.
Given its episodic structure and choice-driven design, many players have long viewed the game as a natural fit for a handheld platform. That expectation has now been met, with AdHoc officially confirming that Dispatch is coming to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 this week.
A Mature Story at the Centre of Dispatch
What is clear is that the title has always been viewed as a mature, adult-oriented experience. Its story includes nudity and suggestive audio as part of its character-driven drama, reinforcing the tone AdHoc set out to achieve from the start.
On PlayStation 5 and PC, players can control how this content is presented. An optional censorship setting allows sensitive scenes to be obscured with visual overlays, offering flexibility without altering the narrative itself.
Mandatory Censorship on Switch and Switch 2

That flexibility will not carry over to Nintendo platforms. For the Switch and Switch 2 releases, Dispatch will ship exclusively as a censored version, with no option to disable those visual adjustments.
In a statement to Eurogamer, AdHoc explained that the decision was made to comply with Nintendo’s platform content guidelines. As a result, censorship is mandatory on Nintendo hardware rather than player-controlled.
Despite the enforced censorship, AdHoc has stressed that the Switch version of Dispatch will remain content-complete. No scenes, dialogue, or gameplay systems have been removed to accommodate the platform. According to the studio, the only differences involve visual presentation during specific moments, meaning players on Switch will still experience the same story beats, character arcs, and mission structure found on other platforms.
Questions Remain Around Season 2
While Dispatch’s arrival on Switch expands its audience, questions remain about the series’ future. AdHoc has previously hinted at a second season, but no official confirmation has been made so far.
For now, the focus remains on bringing the game to Nintendo’s platforms, even if that means doing so with compromises tied to content policies rather than creative intent.
