Elden Ring Nightreign Overview: Nightfarers & The Path to the Nightlords

Elden Ring Nightreign Overview Nightfarers & the Path to the Nightlords

As the darkness creeps ever closer, as Elden Ring Nightreign gets closer to its release date, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco are giving players all the necessary details to prepare. Requiring flawless cooperative manoeuvres and innovative thinking, players can be assured they will have a mountain to climb to win.

This applies not just to the veterans who have completed Elden Ring or the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, but to the newcomers as well. The new overview trailer lays out the task at hand, and being prepared is just half the battle.

After all, this is a new Limveld we are headed to, where environments and threats change with each run. And at the end, any of the Nightlords are ready to punish you for even attempting to take them on.

Here’s what we know so far about what to expect in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Nightfarers in Elden Ring Nightreign

You will be taking on the role of a Nightfarer, and there are different classes to choose from that determine just how you will fight. Based on the trailer, we now know the following choices:

  • Wylder
  • Guardian
  • Ironeye
  • Duchess
  • Raider
  • Recluse
  • Executor

Of course, there will likely be more for players to pick, including two other classes that appeared in the trailer but were not named. Each of the Nightfarers can use different weapons, and each has its pros and cons. Finding the right balance for your playstyle will be key in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Nightlords Calling

With each run, your ultimate objective is to take down the Nightlord, and the path ahead isn’t easy at all. Enemies of all shapes and sizes are in the way, as are bosses that hit hard but hold great rewards.

A full run will see players try to make it through cycles of three days. Scavaging and gaining XP to become more powerful will be your main activity in the day, followed by a boss fight at night. Come the third day’s end, the Nightlord will be ready to test you.

It is likely we will have to get used to dying plenty of times before a successful run in Elden Ring Nightreign, but that is exactly what the studio is counting on.

Relic Up & Looking Good

One of the ways to enhance your capabilities in a run is through Relics. These items can be obtained from your runs, and can deliver active and passive buffs. Think stats boosts or skill changes, and the possibilities are going to be interesting.

For those seeking to look good while fighting, there will be cosmetics up for grabs too. The past of FromSoftware games will be put to good use in this aspect. In addition, Memories can be activated in the world, which will flesh out your Nightfarer’s story and that of this Limveld, so get ready for answers and more questions as you play.

Elden Ring Nightreign releases this May 30 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
