Endless Legend 2 Early Access Brings Oceanic Strategy to Steam and PC Game Pass
Amplitude Studios and publisher Hooded Horse have officially launched Endless Legend 2 into Early Access, available now on Steam, the Microsoft Store, and through PC Game Pass. The turn-based strategy sequel continues Amplitude’s tradition of expansive 4X gameplay, while introducing a bold new setting and mechanics shaped by community feedback.
A Planet on the Brink
Players are transported to Saiadha, an oceanic paradise threatened by cataclysm. As one of five unique factions, players must expand empires, manage resources, and lead armies led by larger-than-life heroes. Each faction is designed with a radically different philosophy — from righteous warriors descended from the stars to hive-minded creatures that thrive on consumption — encouraging distinct playstyles in diplomacy, commerce, and warfare.
The environment itself is a major player. Tidefall events periodically drain the oceans, exposing fresh land to explore and exploit. These shifting landscapes introduce new strategic opportunities, but also leave empires vulnerable as enemies can approach through newly revealed terrain.
Factions, Battles, and Empire-Building
As with Amplitude’s past titles, Endless Legend 2 offers flexibility in how conflicts are resolved. Players may choose to auto-resolve skirmishes or take direct control of units, using terrain, adjacency bonuses, and faction-specific battlefield abilities to seize the upper hand. Building cities, managing trade, and exploiting anomalies all feed into the core loop of expansion and survival, while narrative quests and mysteries add story depth to each campaign.
Amplitude also emphasises hero recruitment and progression, allowing commanders to grow in power and influence, shaping both battles and the broader campaign.
Community-Driven Development
The Early Access phase is designed to be a collaborative experience. Amplitude has pledged to listen closely to community feedback, with confirmed plans to add a new faction, multiplayer support, and further balance improvements. A detailed roadmap is expected in the coming weeks.
This approach mirrors the studio’s history: both Humankind and Endless Space underwent significant evolution during their Early Access phases, benefiting from substantial community involvement.
