Death Stranding 2 PC Rating Appears, Hinting at Imminent Reveal
A Renewed Signal for PC Players
For years, many assumed Kojima Productions worked solely within the PlayStation ecosystem. Yet Death Stranding demonstrated that the studio was never bound to Sony’s hardware, especially once the game arrived on PC under publisher 505 Games.
The successful transition also proved the versatility of Guerrilla Games’ Decima Engine, which performed impressively outside the PlayStation environment. With Death Stranding 2: On the Beach having made waves on PlayStation 5, PC players have been waiting for the inevitable port. A significant development suggests that the wait may be shorter than anticipated.
ESRB Rating Points to a PC Version
The PC version of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has appeared on the ESRB age-rating database, listed with a “Mature 17+” classification for its violence and thematic content. The silent appearance of the rating — with no accompanying announcement — immediately sparked discussion across fan communities.
An ESRB rating does not guarantee release, but it typically suggests that one of two scenarios is unfolding. Either an official announcement is imminent, or the game is nearing launch readiness. Both possibilities have led many to speculate about a reveal at The Game Awards 2025, a show where Hideo Kojima regularly appears.

Neither Kojima Productions nor Hideo Kojima has addressed the rating at the time of writing. However, the studio has a clear history of supporting PC releases, and the Decima Engine has consistently demonstrated strong cross-platform performance. This track record has made the existence of a PC edition of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach more a question of “when” rather than “if.”
A Likely Expansion Beyond PlayStation
The ESRB listing strengthens expectations that Death Stranding 2 will continue the series’ multi-platform trajectory. With industry watchers anticipating a major winter announcement and the first game enjoying long-term success across both console and PC, the franchise appears set to expand once again.
