Fortnite and Honkai: Star Rail Crossover?
Among all modern attempts to build something resembling a true metaverse, Fortnite arguably comes the closest. While many battle royale games have struggled to stay relevant, the game continues to thrive through a steady stream of high-profile collaborations spanning anime, Hollywood films, television series, music, and real-world celebrities. One notable omission has always remained: gacha games.
That long-standing gap now appears close to closing.
Despite the massive global success of gacha titles, Fortnite has never featured characters from the genre. A new teaser from Epic Games suggests that this may soon change.
Epic Games Drops a Not-So-Subtle Tease
Epic Games fuelled speculation with a brief post shared via its official social media channels. The teaser features two swords accompanied by the word “trailblazing”, a term closely associated with Honkai: Star Rail and its player characters.
For gacha fans, the weapons are immediately recognisable. The dark blade closely resembles that wielded by Blade, while the red-accented sword mirrors Kafka’s iconic weapon. The visual language leaves little room for coincidence, strongly suggesting that both characters may be heading to the shooter.
A Potential First in Collaboration History
Epic Games has not confirmed a release window or formally announced the crossover at the time of writing. However, if the gacha game does make its way into Epic’s shooter, it would represent the first gacha franchise to officially collaborate with the platform.
Such a move would be significant beyond novelty alone. It would signal Epic Games’ growing openness to gacha IPs, a genre that dominates much of the Asian market and continues to expand its global footprint.
For now, fans will have to wait for official confirmation. Still, the “trailblazing” tease suggests the next big collaboration could break one of its last remaining boundaries.
