Song of Vengeance Trailer Unveils Brutal Combat
Unveiled during Gamescom 2025’s Opening Night Live, Sony and Sucker Punch Productions revealed a new Ghost of Yotei trailer ominously titled Song of Vengeance. The footage highlighted protagonist Atsu’s bloody quest to hunt down the Yotei Six, a ruthless group believed to be behind her family’s murder.
The trailer showcased Atsu’s mastery of lethal combat, versatile weapons, and the aid of a wolf companion — underscoring the game’s focus on cinematic action and emotional storytelling. With its PlayStation 5 exclusivity, Ghost of Yotei is designed to leverage next-gen hardware without cross-gen limitations fully.
Legends Mode Returns as Free DLC
However, that wasn’t all. The biggest surprise of the showcase was the announcement that Legends Mode — the acclaimed multiplayer feature first introduced in Ghost of Tsushima — will make a return. Launching in 2026 as free DLC, Ghost of Yotei Legends will include:
- 2-player co-op story missions inspired by Japanese folklore.
- 4-player survival matches against waves of enemies.
- Four distinct classes, allowing different combat styles and strategies.
- Demonic versions of the Yotei Six, along with entirely new enemy types.
Sucker Punch has confirmed that more details will be revealed closer to launch, but the free update is already generating significant buzz among fans of cooperative play.
Release Date and Platforms
Ghost of Yotei will launch on October 2 exclusively for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. With its cinematic narrative, fluid combat, and the eventual addition of free multiplayer content, the game is shaping up to be one of Sony’s flagship releases for 2025 and beyond.
