Gamescom 2025 Warhammer 40K Dawn of War IV Confirmed for 2026 Release

A Legendary RTS Franchise Returns

The Warhammer 40,000 universe is experiencing a renaissance, and one of its most beloved real-time strategy series is officially making a comeback. During Gamescom 2025’s Opening Night Live, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV was revealed with a cinematic and gameplay hybrid trailer, reigniting excitement for large-scale battles in the grimdark future.

In a major shift, Relic Entertainment — the studio behind the first three entries — is not leading development. Instead, Dawn of War IV is being crafted by KING Art Games, known for Iron Harvest, with publishing handled by Deep Silver.

Four Playable Factions at Launch

At launch, players will be able to command one of four distinct factions, each with their own units, mechanics, and strategic depth:

  • Space Marines – elite warriors of the Imperium.
  • Orks – brutal, chaotic, and unstoppable hordes.
  • Necrons – ancient machines rising from their tomb worlds.
  • Adeptus Mechanicus – making their Dawn of War debut, wielding arcane technology and devotion to the Omnissiah.

Each faction promises to deliver unique playstyles, ensuring tactical variety for both single-player and multiplayer fans.

Campaign and Multiplayer Modes

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV will feature a massive 70-mission campaign, fully supported with cinematic cutscenes that bring the narrative to life. Players can also engage in:

  • Skirmish mode – endless battles against AI opponents.
  • Online multiplayer – large-scale clashes that bring the true scope of Warhammer 40K warfare to the forefront.

This mix of storytelling and competitive modes ensures that Dawn of War IV will cater to both longtime fans and new players.

Release Window

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV is set for release in 2026 on PC, though no specific launch date has been announced. With KING Art Games at the helm, the series looks to return with fresh ideas while honouring its RTS legacy.
