A Landmark Feature for Genshin Impact
After months of speculation, HoYoVerse has officially announced a User Generated Content (UGC) mode for Genshin Impact via its HoYoLab page. This new system will give players the tools to create their own gameplay modes, opening the door to a massive wave of community-driven content.
UGC isn’t entirely new to gaming — titles like Minecraft, Roblox, and Dreams have shown how creator-led experiences can sustain a game for years. However, bringing such a feature to Genshin Impact, a free-to-play gacha RPG, marks a bold move that could reshape its future.
Beyond Existing Creative Tools
While Genshin has dabbled in creativity-focused features before, such as Divine Ingenuity’s custom domains and the Serenitea Pot housing system, this UGC mode will be far more flexible and expansive. Players will be able to:
- Build unique gameplay modes from scratch
- Use an expanding library of in-game assets and mechanics
- Share creations via a dedicated hub for discovery and multiplayer play
HoYoVerse says they plan to add more assets over time, eventually allowing creators to craft a wide variety of gameplay types, from combat challenges to puzzle stages.

What We Don’t Know Yet
Some details remain unclear, including whether UGC tools will support narrative-driven missions or cutscene creation. At launch, the focus may lean toward mini-game style content, with story-driven tools possibly coming later. That would have a significant impact on how the game develops, driven by an invested community.
Launch Timeline and Roadmap
The first phase of UGC rollout is scheduled to begin before the end of 2025. HoYoVerse also promised to release a long-term roadmap for the feature, outlining asset additions and potential creator incentives.
If executed well, the system could significantly extend Genshin Impact’s longevity, transforming Teyvat from a story-driven world into a playground for limitless player creativity.
