inZoi Sales Numbers More Crucial to Krafton, Not Low Player Counts

Since it is a single-player game, Krafton stated that sales figures are a more appropriate metric to measure inZOI’s performance than active player count.

The initial reveal of inZOI generated massive hype across the gaming community. And for good reason—after years of domination by The Sims, the life simulation genre finally had a promising new contender. With cutting-edge technology, hyper-realistic visuals, and AI-driven systems designed to deliver a more immersive simulation experience, inZOI positioned itself as a next-generation evolution of the genre. But despite its strong first impression, the game’s Early Access performance has become a growing concern.

The worry is not without merit. Within just three months of release, inZOI has reportedly lost around 98% of its active player base on Steam. In contrast, its main rival, The Sims 4, a much older title, continues to maintain a stable and consistent active player count.

These concerns have reached Krafton, the publisher. In an interview with IGN, Krafton addressed the drop in active players and offered a different perspective. According to the company, active player count is not a critical metric for assessing the success of the game, especially given its nature as a single-player game.

Instead, Krafton emphasised that sales figures are a more accurate indicator of the game’s performance. According to their internal data, inZOI has demonstrated consistent sales momentum. While the only confirmed figure so far is 1 million copies sold within the first week, Krafton has not shared any updated sales data since then.

The company also reiterated that inZOI is still in Early Access, and the current focus is on gathering player feedback, improving features, enhancing performance, and building a more immersive experience. Krafton aims to address player concerns and deliver a polished final product through ongoing updates and community-driven development.

Whether that would make a difference in time to override public sentiment is the key question. However, despite its current challenges, Krafton obviously remains committed to shaping inZOI into a worthy and lasting entry in the life simulation genre.
