Lords of the Fallen II Showcases Extended Alpha Combat in New Developer Video

CI Games has offered its most detailed look yet at Lords of the Fallen II, releasing a new episode in its ongoing developer series that dives deep into the sequel’s evolved soulslike combat.

The new video, part of the studio’s Lifting the Veil series, expands on the gameplay first revealed at The Game Awards. Featuring commentary from game director James Lowe, lead system designer Daniel Regan, producer Alex Harkin and creative strategist Ryan Hill, the presentation focuses squarely on how the sequel intends to refine and intensify its combat loop.

For players invested in the Lords of the Fallen sequel, this extended look signals a clear push toward faster, more aggressive and more flexible encounters.

Faster Pace and Wider Combat Control

One of the most noticeable changes is the increased sense of speed and manoeuvrability. Lampbearers are no longer confined to deliberate, slower engagements. Instead, players are encouraged to control a broader combat space, reacting more quickly to threats and repositioning more dynamically during fights.

The development team describes combat as becoming more personal and reactive, demanding sharper timing and faster decision-making. Larger areas of control and more fluid movement systems aim to make each encounter feel less static and more volatile.

This shift appears to be designed to address feedback from the previous entry, in which some players felt constrained by pacing and encounter density.

Expanded Arsenal and Tactical Flexibility

Lords of the Fallen II also widens its combat options considerably. Players will be able to swap more seamlessly between melee, ranged and spellcasting styles, encouraging hybrid builds and more adaptive tactics mid-fight.

Heavy attacks have also been reworked to introduce greater risk and reward. Rather than serving purely as higher damage options, they now force players to weigh positioning and exposure carefully, making overextension a genuine liability.

The alpha footage also showcases new enemies, additional weapon types and fresh spell effects, all reinforcing the sequel’s ambition to deepen and build diversity without sacrificing the brutal identity of the series.

Dismemberment and Graphic Executions Return

Visceral combat remains central to the franchise’s tone. Lords of the Fallen II introduces a new dismemberment system alongside expanded execution animations, pushing the game’s aggressive aesthetic even further.

Set 1,000 years after the fall of the dark god Adyr, the sequel once again places players in the role of a Lampbearer battling forces from the realm of Umbral. CI Games promises a greater variety of enemy types and more ambitious boss encounters, designed to test both solo players and those tackling the game in co-op with shared progression.

Lords of the Fallen II is currently in active development and is scheduled for a global release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
