Marvel Rivals Gets Spooky With Zombie Mode & Halloween Event

Marvel Rivals Unveils Zombie Mode and Halloween Event at Gamescom Asia

The undead are invading the Marvel Multiverse. During gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show 2025, Marvel Games and NetEase officially revealed a brand-new PvE Zombie Mode for Marvel Rivals, alongside a limited-time Halloween event that transforms Midtown New York into a chaotic undead battleground.

A New PvE Twist for the Super Hero Shooter

Unveiled by Marvel Games Executive Producer Danny Koo, the new Zombie Mode introduces a fresh player-versus-environment experience inspired by Marvel Zombies. Players will band together as Thor, Blade, Magik, Jeff, or The Punisher, facing endless waves of infected enemies while hunting down Zombie Namor and the Queen of the Dead — a new boss duo created for the event.

In this mode, each hero gains unique abilities tailored for the fight. Thor enters a sustained Awakened state, Blade tears through hordes with his bouncing Moon Blades, Magik channels her demonic Darkchild form, and Jeff — the tiny land shark — charges headlong into danger with surprising ferocity.

A Marvel Zombies Homage With a Twist

Set in a zombified version of Midtown New York under Khonshu’s influence, the mode delivers a thematic mix of horror and heroics. It also marks one of the first PvE experiments for Marvel Rivals, which has until now focused entirely on competitive PvP.

The event is available for a limited time and comes with new rewards, hero balance updates, and fresh cosmetics as part of the Halloween update. Players can check the full patch notes via the in-game update menu or the official Marvel Rivals website.

What’s Next for Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals continues to evolve rapidly since its beta period, with NetEase confirming ongoing support and new seasonal content. This latest update reflects the studio’s ambition to expand the shooter beyond its PvP roots — introducing co-op storytelling and new game modes while keeping its high-speed hero combat intact.

Players can jump into the Halloween event now across platforms, while keeping an eye out for upcoming collaborations and future heroes expected later this year.
