Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Opening Cinematic is Pure Bliss

the Remake’s Opening Cinematic Showcases the Return of Its Legendary Soundtrack, Adding to the Sense of Nostalgia While Also Signaling a Careful Preservation of What Made the Original So Memorable.

Aesthetic direction has always been an inseparable part of Hideo Kojima’s vision for the Metal Gear Solid franchise during his career at Konami. Each main instalment is distinguished by a unique approach to visuals, atmosphere, colour palette, and music. Among them, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater stands out the most, widely recognised for its strong homage to classic James Bond films. Fortunately, that beloved identity is set to make a return in the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remake.

After previously revealing gameplay details through trailers and screenshots, Konami has now officially released the opening cinematic for the remake, which is being rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5.

While some of the Bond-inspired flair may feel slightly toned down, the cinematic — which features brief glimpses of your journey as Naked Snake — still carries the signature charm and presentation fans expect from a Metal Gear title. The credit goes to designer Kyle Cooper, whose expert work and expertise in creating title sequences for movies and television shines through.

Perhaps most notably, this opening confirms that Konami has taken steps beyond just visual enhancements. The iconic theme song, Snake Eater, has been re-recorded for the remake and once again features the powerful vocals of Cynthia Harrell. This is a particularly welcome surprise, especially considering Konami previously confirmed that they are not re-recording the game’s original voice dialogue.

It’s worth noting that the version of the opening released now is a clean cut, so it’s free of credits or titles. In the final in-game version, players can expect to see full credits for the many talents who contributed to both the original and the remake.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is scheduled for release on August 28, and will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
