Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection Brings Every Classic Fatality to Modern Platforms

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection Launches with Restored Classics and Lost Arcade Version

Digital Eclipse, the studio renowned for its meticulous restorations of classic games, has teamed up with Atari and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to launch Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, a definitive celebration of the franchise’s origins.

Now available digitally on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, the Legacy Kollection compiles more than a decade of Mortal Kombat history into one package, spanning arcade, console, and handheld versions of the series’ early titles.

The Ultimate Collection of Mortal Kombat History

The collection features every mainline release from the 1992 arcade original through the early 2000s handheld era. Each game has been faithfully restored and enhanced with modern accessibility and multiplayer features.

Players can toggle on-screen move lists, use the new Rewind and Trainer functions, or perfect their finishing moves in Fatality Trainer. Several arcade and console titles also feature online multiplayer with rollback netcode, ensuring smoother competition across platforms.

Perhaps most excitingly, Legacy Kollection includes the long-lost WaveNet version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, which has not been playable since 1997. Initially developed for Midway’s experimental online arcade network, this version famously featured Noob Saibot as a selectable fighter.

A Playable Documentary

Beyond the games themselves, Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection doubles as an interactive museum. It features a playable documentary mode chronicling the creation of the franchise, complete with never-before-seen concept art, behind-the-scenes videos, and interviews with series creators Ed Boon, John Tobias, Dan Forden, and John Vogel.

Mortal Kombat has always pushed boundaries and redefined what video games can be,” said Mike Mika, Studio Head at Digital Eclipse. “This collection isn’t just about revisiting classic games — it’s a celebration of the bold creativity and lasting impact that made Mortal Kombat a cultural phenomenon.”
