News Tower Officially Launches 1.0 With Expanded Campaign and New Factions
After a year in Early Access and a steady wave of updates, News Tower has officially launched its full 1.0 version on Steam. Developed by Rotterdam-based studio Sparrow Night and published by Twin Sails Interactive, the 1930s newsroom tycoon now delivers its most complete vision of the classic print era fantasy.
Players begin as a modest neighbourhood publication and expand into a city-shaping media empire, navigating political pressure, public opinion, and fierce competition across New York’s boroughs.
A Detailed Simulation of the Golden Age of Print
News Tower promises a multi-layered management experience that spans editorial decisions, industrial logistics, and the messy politics of media power. Players oversee everything from printing floors and darkrooms to hiring staff, managing budgets, and selecting front page stories.
As circulation grows, the game introduces more complex challenges. Influence from the Mayor’s office, high society, criminal groups, and now the military shapes the editorial landscape. Rival newspapers battle for control of districts, forcing players to balance sensationalism, integrity, and ambition.

Version 1.0 Adds New Faction, Rival Clashes, and Late Decade Stories
The 1.0 update is the most significant expansion News Tower has received since entering Early Access. It extends the primary campaign to 1939, adding hundreds of events drawn from both United States and European history.
New Military Faction and Ethical Dilemmas
One of the major additions is the Military faction, which brings new storylines, influence battles, and ethically complex decisions. The revamped faction system now affects reputation and sales more directly, making editorial identity central to long-term success.
Rival Newspapers and Citywide Turf
Version 1.0 introduces deeper competition between outlets, including citywide turf conflicts and district-level control mechanics. To support this, new buildings, decorations, and late-game tower layouts have been added, giving players more flexibility as they grow into skyscraper-scale headquarters.
Other highlights include global leaderboards, achievements, and expanded localisation across several major languages.
A Tribute to 1930s Journalism and Jazz
News Tower grounds its management systems in a carefully recreated vision of the era. Sparrow Night’s five-person team used live recorded jazz performed by members of New Cool Collective, drawing influence from Duke Ellington and Count Basie to set a lively newsroom tone.
The game has already gained recognition, winning four Dutch Game Awards and earning a nod from The New York Times, which called it one of the most fascinating management simulators of 2024.
News Tower is available now on Steam for US$24.99 for PC and macOS, with the launch discount active until December 2.
