With the arrival of the shiny new Nintendo Switch 2, gamers were understandably looking forward to trying out new games. What they probably weren’t expecting were the prices they would have to pay, as the Big N has the likes of Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza prices at US$80. This might become the norm, but for Electronic Arts (EA), that will not be a direction they follow at this moment.
When asked about this industry trend and if EA is following suit during the company’s Q1 earnings call, CEO Andrew Wilson shared that the company is “not looking to make any changes on pricing at this stage”.
“That’s in the construct of, we already offer a fairly broad pricing scheme across our various products. When you think about everything from free-to-play through to our premium products and deluxe editions, our orientation is always to capture the full spectrum of pricing so that we can serve players in the best way possible and offer them the greatest value. We’ll continue to look at opportunities to deliver great value to our players through various pricing schemes over the course of time, but no dramatic changes planned yet.”
How EA Games are Being Priced Now and in the Future

Of course, with that being said, the way EA approaches pricing is bound to change with the evolution of the gaming landscape.
At this juncture, the company’s forecasts have not taken into account a potential price change, so upcoming games will stay as they are. Titles like Madden NFL 26, EA Sports FC 26, and probably Battlefield 6 will remain at relatively similar prices that we are used to.
Whether that will remain for 2026 and beyond is anyone’s guess, but the gaming giant is not alone in not following this current directional change.
Microsoft and Xbox had initially gone down the same route, pricing The Outer Worlds 2 at US$80, only to back down following public outcry. Borderlands 4, the highly anticipated shooter, is also launching at US$70 despite Randy Pitchford being in favour of a higher price point.
For now, we are just happy to enjoy this hobby at the current prices. Here’s hoping that remains the case for as long as possible.
