Nintendo Reveals Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave for Switch 2 in 2026

Nintendo has unveiled Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, the next entry in its long-running strategy RPG series, scheduled to release in 2026 exclusively for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The reveal was made during the latest Nintendo Direct, positioning the game as one of the console’s flagship titles alongside Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza.

Classic Tactics with Modern Presentation

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave retains the series’ traditional turn-based tactical combat, while introducing branching storylines told through multiple protagonists. Players will influence the narrative depending on whose path they follow, adding replay value and choice-driven outcomes.

Thanks to the upgraded hardware of the Switch 2, the game showcases significantly more ambitious visuals and audio design, making it one of the most striking instalments to date.

Story Teases and Returning Characters

While full story details remain under wraps, the debut trailer teased an event called The Heroic Games, staged in a vast Colosseum-like arena reminiscent of Roman gladiatorial combat. Each protagonist will enter with their own motives, setting the stage for diverse narrative arcs.

The trailer’s biggest surprise came at the end with the reappearance of Sothis, the mysterious entity introduced in Three Houses (2019). Her return has already fuelled speculation that this next game may share narrative ties with that fan-favourite entry.

Release Window

Nintendo has confirmed that Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave will launch sometime in 2026, with an exact date yet to be announced. The title will remain exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, underlining Nintendo’s commitment to delivering strong first-party content for its next-generation console.
