Escapism has always been a standout aspect of video game entertainment, and Paradox Interactive is looking to elevate that experience even further with Life by You, a life simulator that will enter Early Access this June 4 for both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Life by You hands players creative freedom to achieve all sorts of storytelling possibilities. Players can design and live out the lives of the humans they create in an open-game world where everything is customisable. Deep creation tools such as the Character Creator, Object Designer, Language Trees, and more are available to players so they can mod and adapt the game to fit their story.
You could create households, build homes, and allow life to take its flow. With natural language conversation and the ability to switch from a third-person perspective to control gameplay directly, players will connect with their characters on multiple levels.
“At the core of Life by You is the player community,” Rod Humble, general manager of Paradox Tectonic, said “We’ve created a sandbox where players can tell whatever story they want. From deeply personal, esoteric, or fan fiction, they can live life to the fullest – or break the rules as they see fit!”
Originally planned for a March release, the added development time has allowed the team to refine the game’s visuals and gameplay further. The main gameplay features are:
- Tell rich stories: This world is your sandbox. Create your own humans or play as anyone within it—swap control at any time with any character. Players can climb a career ladder, choose to be a misfit, fall in love as often as they change their clothes, or explore various boundaries in Life by You.
- Explore and discover an open world: Drive, bike, scoot, or walk to get around the world. Along the way, collect seashells, wildflowers, and gems. Strike up real-language conversations with any human in-games.
- Empower creativity with deep creative tools: Use the extensive Creator and Editor Tools to change the gameplay anytime. Shape a world to play in or share your creations on the Paradox Mods.
- Build and fully customise humans and environments: Design a dream home from scratch or renovate existing buildings. Customise your human with a fully featured character creator, including deep personality and character traits.
Life by You will be available in Early Access for both Steam and the Epic Store this June 4.
