Trainers everywhere now know exactly when to keep their diaries open for Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Developers Game Freak and The Pokémon Company have finally unveiled the release date for the games, and your favourite battling pocket monsters will return on October 16.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is a new frontier for the Pokémon video game series, blending an RPG story unfolding in a single city with action elements and a real-time battle system unlike anything seen before in the franchise. Trainers can look forward to the beginning of a new adventure in Lumiose City — one woven by people and Pokémon together!
You have the option of purchasing the game on the first Nintendo Switch and upgrading with a US$10 upgrade pack from the Nintendo eShop or My Nintendo Store. Players starting the new adventure on the Nintendo Switch 2 can enjoy improved graphics and framerates.
Along with the impending release, the company is preparing even more merchandise to celebrate the occasion with fans. New apparel, accessories, plushies, and more will be made available leading up and after the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
First announced back in 2024, with a deeper look earlier this year, this is an adventure on a much larger scale than before. There are Wild Zones to explore and battle Pokémon who are in their natural habitats, with Lumiose City serving as the central hub in which everything will flow through.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A also features a day and night cycle, ensuring that you will meet different creatures depending on the time and day. At the same time, nighttime is also when the Z-A Royale begins. Within the walls of the city, Battle Zones will appear, and it’s up to you to challenge the various trainers within and test your mettle.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A launches on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 this October 16.
