Serenity Forge Unveils Puppergeist, a Rhythm Visual Novel About Love, Loss, and Dogs
Developer and publisher Serenity Forge — known for Fractured Blooms, BAD END THEATER, and To the Moon — has officially revealed Puppergeist during the IGN and ID@Xbox October Showcase, alongside a new trailer. This rhythm-driven visual novel blends heartwarming storytelling with musical gameplay.
A Whimsical Yet Bittersweet Canine Journey
In Puppergeist, players step into the shoes of Claire, a young witch who ventures into the Doggie Underworld in search of her beloved pup. Along the way, she meets ghostly dogs with stories of friendship, loyalty, and regret. To help them find peace, Claire must connect with each spirit through rhythm-based mini-games that advance the story.
Each sequence features charming hand-drawn animations and catchy music inspired by the Rhythm Heaven series. As Claire performs these rhythm challenges, she’s joined by Lunne, a mischievous demon companion who helps her uncover the emotional tales of every canine she encounters.
The game is being developed in-house at Serenity Forge, with NomnomNami, creator of BAD END THEATER, serving as creative director and lead artist. The soundtrack will feature guest composers, including Kris Wilson, co-creator of Cyanide & Happiness, as well as several unannounced collaborators.
A Heartfelt Tribute to Furry Friends
Described as “a tribute to the pets who loved us unconditionally,” Puppergeist aims to deliver both light-hearted fun and emotional storytelling through its rhythm mechanics and visual novel format.
Puppergeist is coming soon to PC and Xbox Series X|S. Players can now wishlist the game on Steam and Xbox to stay updated ahead of its release.
