Rockstar Revives a Classic for a New Generation
Red Dead Redemption and its celebrated companion expansion Undead Nightmare will reach their broadest audience yet on December 2, with Rockstar Games confirming the launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, iOS, Android, and Netflix Games.
The release includes the full single-player campaigns, as well as bonus content from the original Game of the Year Edition. The announcement marks one of Rockstar’s biggest cross-platform reintroductions, bringing John Marston’s story to everything from flagship home consoles to mobile devices and Netflix’s gaming catalogue.
For the first time, Red Dead Redemption will be playable on modern iOS and Android devices with mobile-friendly control options. Netflix subscribers can also download and play the full game and Undead Nightmare as part of their membership, adding significant weight to Netflix’s growing library of premium titles.
Modern Enhancements for Console Players
Players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S can expect smoother performance with 60 frames per second, enhanced visual clarity, HDR support, and resolutions up to 4K.
On Nintendo Switch 2, Rockstar says the port takes full advantage of the console’s improved capabilities. Features include DLSS, HDR, mouse style controls, and a consistent 60 frames per second at high resolution.

Free Upgrade Path for Existing Owners
Current owners of the PS4, Nintendo Switch, or Xbox One digital backwards compatible version of Red Dead Redemption will be able to upgrade to the new versions at no additional cost. Save data can be carried over from PS4 to PS5 and from Nintendo Switch to Switch 2, allowing returning players to continue their journey without interruption.
These new editions were created in collaboration with Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games, and will also join the GTA Plus Games Library and PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on December 2.
A New Chance to Revisit Rockstar’s Western Epic
With modern upgrades, smart portability, and day-one inclusion on major subscription platforms, Red Dead Redemption is poised for a resurgence. The return of Undead Nightmare, often considered one of the best expansion packs ever made, will only boost enthusiasm as players revisit the frontier in both its grounded and supernatural forms.
