Microsoft Confirms Pricing for ROG Xbox Ally X and ROG Xbox Ally

Launching October 16

Microsoft has confirmed global pricing for its upcoming handheld gaming PCs, the ROG Xbox Ally X and ROG Xbox Ally, ahead of their joint launch on October 16, 2025. The more powerful Ally X will retail at US$999.99 / £799 / €899, while the base Ally is set at US$599.99 / £499 / €599.

Pre-orders for both models are now open through the Microsoft Store, ASUS eshop, and select retailers across 38 countries.

From Gamescom to Pricing Confirmation

At Gamescom 2025, Microsoft and ASUS noted they needed “more time to figure out the macro-economic impact to pricing” amid challenging global market conditions. As reported in our Gamescom coverage, both companies emphasised balancing affordability with hardware performance, particularly in the handheld category.

Jason Ronald, Microsoft’s vice president of Xbox gaming devices and ecosystem, said at the time: “This is always a challenge, and you always try to find the right balance between affordability and price point, and I think especially in a mobile form factor that also adds in dimensions such as battery life as well. And then, as you said, the macro-economic climate is challenging.”

ASUS senior vice president Shawn Yen added, “We will need more time to figure out the macro-economic impact to pricing, and that’s why we’ll be sharing more later, in September and October.”

What to Expect From the Handhelds

The ROG Xbox Ally range is designed to deliver a console-inspired experience on the go. Both devices run Windows 11 with a dedicated Xbox full-screen mode, giving players quick access to their Xbox and PC libraries, Game Pass (where available), and titles from stores such as Battle.net.

Other highlights include:

  • Xbox controller-style grips for longer play sessions.
  • A new Xbox button linked to an enhanced Game Bar overlay.
  • Native play of PC titles, Xbox Play Anywhere integration, Remote Play from a home console, and Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta).
  • Support from the new Handheld Compatibility Program, which will indicate optimised games at launch.

The ROG Xbox Ally X and ROG Xbox Ally launch globally on October 16, 2025, giving players two options for portable Xbox gaming depending on budget and performance needs.
