Samson: A Tyndalston Story Gets April Release Date

Liquid Swords has confirmed that Samson: A Tyndalston Story will launch on April 8 for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The title represents the debut project from Liquid Swords, the studio founded by former Avalanche Studios co-founder Christofer Sundberg. Previously known for explosive open-world sandboxes like Just Cause and Mad Max, Sundberg’s new venture is taking a noticeably more grounded approach.

A Debt-Driven Narrative at Its Core

Set in the fictional city of Tyndalston, the game follows Samson McCray, a man crushed by debt and forced into a cycle of daily jobs to survive. Rather than focusing on large-scale destruction, the experience centres on close-quarters, hand-to-hand combat and personal stakes.

Players take on various missions to earn money and gradually reduce Samson’s mounting financial burden. The structure emphasises repetition with consequence, blending narrative progression with systemic city-based gameplay.

While fistfights remain central to the design in Samson: A Tyndalston Story, the game also incorporates vehicle traversal into its semi-open world, offering moments of mobility between tightly designed encounters.

A More Focused AA Vision

Built using Unreal Engine 5, Samson is positioned as an AA project rather than a sprawling AAA blockbuster. Liquid Swords has consistently described the game as a concentrated, story-driven experience built around immersive combat and atmosphere rather than sheer scale.

Despite securing a firm release date, the studio has yet to reveal details regarding estimated playtime or potential console versions.

With its blend of grounded storytelling and combat-first design, Samson: A Tyndalston Story will mark the first real test for Liquid Swords when it arrives on PC this April.
