Konami is taking a bold and refreshing approach with Silent Hill f, offering a unique direction that fans have long been hoping for. Departing from the familiar fog-drenched towns inspired by Western settings, this latest instalment is deeply rooted in Japanese mythology and aesthetics, which is a drastic yet welcome shift for the psychological horror series. As the game approaches its official release, new details have emerged, including a key mechanic that will be familiar to longtime fans: multiple endings.
In a recent media event held in Tokyo, Silent Hill f’s development team confirmed to Polygon that the game will feature five distinct endings. However, there’s a twist: players will not have access to all endings during their first playthrough. Konami has designed the game so that only a single ending is available initially.
According to writer Ryukishi07, this decision was intentional, allowing players to experience the main storyline as intended and build a proper emotional foundation before exploring alternative paths.
Silent Hill f Endings & New Game+
Once players complete the first playthrough, the remaining four endings can be unlocked. These will be influenced by in-game choices and player actions. Interestingly, Ryukishi07 emphasised that the endings won’t fall into the traditional “good” or “bad” dichotomy. Instead, the lines between what is considered a “happy” or “tragic” conclusion will be deliberately blurred, leaving interpretation up to the player.
Adding a touch of nostalgia, Konami has confirmed that at least one of the game’s endings will include the iconic and long-running “UFO” ending, a bizarre, humorous staple of the franchise. However, the team has not yet confirmed whether the infamous “Shiba Inu” ending will be making a return.

To further enhance replayability, Silent Hill f will also include a robust New Game Plus mode. This mode will unlock expanded exploration areas, new boss encounters, additional story content, and even extra cinematic sequences, encouraging players to dive deeper into the game’s haunting narrative.
With its unique setting, layered storytelling, and multiple endings, this new chapter in the Silent Hill saga promises to deliver a deeply personal and terrifying experience.
Silent Hill f is set to launch on September 25 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
