SNK Revives Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 With Modern Features

SNK has announced the modern re-release of Real Bout Fatal Fury 2: The Newcomers, now available on Steam. Originally launched in arcades in 1998, the fighter returns with modern upgrades, competitive online features, and bonus content for both newcomers and long-time fans.
This release also marks the debut of SNK’s new NEOGEO Premium Selection label, a series of curated revivals of classic NEOGEO titles upgraded for today’s players.
New Features for Modern Play
Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 retains its signature mechanics, including lightning-fast combat and the Sway Line system, while adding online rollback netcode for smooth global matches. Players can battle locally (1–2 players) or join online tournaments across multiple formats, including single elimination, double elimination, and round robin.

The online suite supports up to nine players in a lobby, with Spectator Mode allowing fans to watch matches unfold in real time.
Full Roster and Modes
With 23 playable fighters, the game boasts the largest cast in Fatal Fury history. Alongside series icons like Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui, fighters such as Li Xiangfei and Rick Strowd make their series debut. Hidden character Alfred also returns, ensuring varied and unpredictable matchups.
Players can train in a fully equipped Practice Mode, featuring record-and-replay options, speed controls, and a hitbox viewer for technical mastery. A Gallery Mode adds 59 pieces of Fatal Fury artwork and media, offering fans a look back at the series’ history.
