Stormforge Public Playtest Announced with First Gameplay Footage Revealed

Roboto Games has revealed that its fantasy open-world survival crafting title Stormforge will soon open its doors to players through a public playtest, giving the community its first chance to brave the game’s storm-ravaged landscapes. To mark the milestone, the studio also released the first official gameplay footage since Stormforge’s original reveal in early 2024.

Survival in the Eye of the Storm

Set in a dangerous world overrun by magical storms, Stormforge blends survival mechanics with high-stakes exploration. Each storm type comes with unique threats — tornadoes hurl debris and enemies into the air, dust storms impair vision and chip away at health, and blizzards bring chilling attrition. These storms aren’t just obstacles: they are brimming with rare resources required to craft weapons, armour, and storm-proof structures.

Players must weigh the risk-and-reward balance—stay too long in a storm and its destructive energy will consume them, but venturing in is essential for progress. As CEO Curt Bererton explains: “The storms are brutal, but they hold the power players need to survive. This playtest is our first chance to see how players brave them, build their world, and shape their own stories.”

Exploration, Combat, and Community Modding

Stormforge supports up to eight-player co-op, allowing friends to collaborate on exploration and survival. The procedurally generated world features lush meadows, forests, dungeons, and ruins, with travel options available by boat or glider. World bosses guard valuable treasures, and defeating them unlocks new classes and abilities, encouraging varied strategies.

The game also launches with seamless modding support, enabling the community to add custom gear, enemies, locations, and gameplay rules. This flexibility, paired with robust survival systems, positions Stormforge as a sandbox for both exploration and creativity.

Playtest and Early Access Plans

The upcoming playtest will include access to exploration, magical storm events, combat, and base-building systems. Players can sign up now via the official channels, with Stormforge available to wishlist on Steam. The game is targeting an Early Access launch in 2026.
