That context makes Capcom’s latest Street Fighter 6 trailer notable for reasons that have little to do with its actual content. The video itself exists to promote a new batch of sports-themed cosmetic outfits. While stylish, they are relatively low-stakes additions compared to the franchise’s more iconic alternate costumes.
What truly caught the community’s attention was not in the footage at all.
The Thumbnail That Sparked Speculation
As reported by Automaton, the speculation began with a closer look at the trailer’s thumbnail image. Rather than highlighting the current playable roster, the thumbnail prominently features several characters who are not playable in Street Fighter 6 and have not been officially announced.
This stands out even more given that Ingrid and Alex are still expected to arrive as part of the current paid character pass.
The characters visible in the thumbnail include Yoko Harmageddon, Rainbow Mika alongside Yamato Nadeshiko, Ibuki in athletic attire, and Karin Kanzuki wearing what appears to be a tennis-inspired outfit.
Crucially, none of these characters appear anywhere in the trailer itself. There are no animations, cameos, or visual nods beyond the thumbnail image.
