Highguard Revealed at The Game Awards, Launching January 26, 2026
Wildlight Entertainment Debuts Its First Game on the TGA Stage
Wildlight Entertainment, a studio formed by veterans behind Apex Legends, Titanfall and Call of Duty, officially revealed its debut project, Highguard, during The Game Awards 2025.
Presented as a fast-paced PvP raid shooter, the game introduces a new universe built around arcane gunslingers called Wardens, each battling for control across a mythical continent.
The reveal trailer offered the first look at the game’s central objective: mounted traversal, squad-based combat and base infiltration. Teams clash over the Shieldbreaker, a powerful raid device that allows players to breach enemy strongholds before destroying the base to secure victory.
Highguard launches January 26, 2026, with full cross-play and cross-progression across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Built by Developers Behind Apex Legends and Titanfall
Speaking during the reveal, Wildlight co-founder and CEO Dusty Welch described Highguard as the first step in creating a new universe with the same emphasis on scale and polish found in the team’s previous franchises.
The studio was founded in 2021 and has spent the last four years building the project in secrecy. Co-founder and Game Director Chad Grenier, who previously led development on Apex Legends, said the new studio was created to allow for design-led development without compromise.

He added that the team’s experience shaping a live-service hit has informed Highguard’s long-term ambitions, hinting at a sustained post-launch roadmap.
Wildlight plans to share more gameplay and systems details throughout January as the launch date approaches.
