Resident Evil Requiem Welcomes Leon S. Kennedy
New Trailer Confirms Leon’s Return and Expands the Story
After months of leaks and speculation, Capcom has finally confirmed that Leon S. Kennedy will return in Resident Evil Requiem, debuting the character during a new trailer at The Game Awards 2025.
The nearly three-and-a-half-minute showcase offered the most substantial look yet at the upcoming sequel, including major story clues, the reveal of the main antagonist and the confirmation of a dual-protagonist structure.
The trailer aligns with earlier expectations from the PlayStation Store leak and shows Leon with an older, more weathered appearance. His design builds upon the visual style established in the Resident Evil 4 remake, signalling a continuation of his modern portrayal rather than a dramatic redesign.
Dual-Protagonist Gameplay and First Look at Gideon
Capcom used the trailer to highlight the contrast between the game’s two main characters. Grace Ashford’s campaign maintains a survival horror tone, while Leon’s path shifts toward high-intensity action.
The new Resident Evil Requiem footage showcased Leon dispatching infected foes with confident firearm techniques, melee kicks, axes and even a chainsaw. This positions him as the power-driven counterpart to Grace’s more vulnerable route.
The trailer also introduced Gideon, the game’s central antagonist. His eccentric appearance and cryptic ritualistic ambitions hint at a connection to an entity called Elpis. However, Capcom has not yet revealed the nature of this figure or its influence on the story.
This marks the first major narrative reveal since Requiem’s announcement and suggests a more supernatural tilt than recent Resident Evil entries.
Porsche Collaboration Confirmed as Leon’s Vehicle Appears

One unexpected detail in the trailer is a promotional collaboration with Porsche. The Cayenne Turbo GT appears as Leon’s vehicle, prominently featured in several scenes. Capcom has not confirmed whether the car will be drivable or primarily cinematic, but the crossover adds a distinct stylistic flair to Leon’s campaign.
Resident Evil Requiem will be released on February 27 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
