Where Winds Meet Roadmap Unveiled Ahead of Launch
A Living Wuxia World
Where Winds Meet, the upcoming free-to-play Wuxia open-world RPG from Everstone Studio and NetEase Games, will launch worldwide on November 14 for PC and PlayStation 5. During Tokyo Game Show, the developers placed a spotlight on the game’s ambitious seasonal roadmap, designed to expand the world and narrative after release.
The team confirmed that each season will last roughly three months, introducing new content that alternates between expanding the main story and diversifying gameplay. At launch, players can explore two major regions, Qinghe and Kaifeng, each featuring distinct story arcs tied to the protagonist’s past.
Expanding Every Season
Future seasons will build on this foundation in different ways. Some will advance the overarching plot with new regions and characters, while others will focus on limited-time events, expanded progression systems, or social features to enhance the multiplayer experience. Seasonal updates will also introduce new activities that encourage exploration of the evolving world.

“For us, Where Winds Meet is more than a game — it’s an invitation to experience Wuxia as we’ve always imagined it,” said lead designer Chris Lyu. “We will continuously optimise and adjust the gaming experience based on feedback from the player community. It’s our way of building this world with our players, not just for them.”
Combat Philosophy Still in Focus
While the roadmap took centre stage, the team also reiterated their commitment to Wuxia-inspired combat. Weapons such as spears, dual blades, and rope darts each carry unique styles, while the umbrella stands out as the symbolic weapon of the game — a tool that blends beauty and lethality. To ensure authenticity, motion capture led by Hong Kong action director Wei Tung was used to capture the flow of real martial arts.
