The Game Awards Expands to Amazon Prime Video
The Game Awards 2025 will stream on Amazon Prime Video this December, marking the first time the annual showcase has partnered with a subscription streaming platform. Since its debut in 2014, the show has been streamed exclusively on free platforms, including YouTube, Twitch, X, TikTok, and several regional services.
The 2024 edition garnered more than 150 million livestreams across all platforms. This year, the show is set to widen its reach even further with Amazon’s streaming service joining the distribution roster.
A Live Broadcast from Los Angeles
The Game Awards 2025 will air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on December 11. Viewers can expect world premieres, new game announcements, musical performances, and the usual mix of industry awards. Cast members from Amazon’s Fallout television series, which returns for a second season next month, will also present during the event.
Alongside Prime Video, the show will continue to broadcast across YouTube and Twitch. For the first time, Twitch will offer a worldwide 2K livestream, allowing creators to co-stream the broadcast with improved image quality. Twitch viewers who watch at least thirty minutes will receive exclusive in-game content through Twitch Drops as well as a limited TGA chat badge.

Amazon Deepens Its Partnership
The new partnership features a more prominent presence for Amazon throughout the event. A dedicated Game Awards shop will launch on Amazon, offering official merchandise. During the broadcast, viewers can expect Prime-exclusive limited-time deals on nominated games, new releases, and gaming hardware.
For host and creator Geoff Keighley, the key point is that Prime Video acts as an additional outlet rather than a replacement. Speaking to Variety, he emphasised that the show will still stream across every platform that has supported it since 2014. He also said that Amazon has not influenced the production of the event, noting that The Game Awards remains entirely under his team’s creative direction.
Reaching a Broader Audience
Keighley explained that discussions with Amazon began earlier this year, with both sides agreeing on a non-exclusive deal. He described the partnership as an opportunity to reach a wider audience and showcase new reveals to more players worldwide.
Executive producer Kimmie Kim added that when The Game Awards first began, an entirely online awards show was considered unusual. A decade later, streaming has become a mainstream home for major broadcast events. She sees the Prime Video partnership as a natural next step in how award shows adapt to changing viewing habits.
