The Last Gas Station Opens April 28 on Steam

Alawar has confirmed that The Last Gas Station will launch on April 28 on PC via Steam, bringing its cosy management loop to full release after a strong showing during February’s Steam Next Fest.

The core pitch is straightforward: restore and run a roadside station, stock shelves, serve customers, and expand the surrounding rest stop economy. The twist is that something is off, and the game wants that unease to sit underneath the comfort.

The station will be one of the last havens for petrol drivers in a world dominated by electric vehicles. You take over after the previous manager disappears, and while day-to-day work is about upgrades and profits, the nights introduce a mystery thread that can be pursued or avoided.

A Cosy Management Sim With a Rest Stop Expansion Loop

The Last Gas Station is built around restoration and steady optimisation. Players repair pumps and facilities, add services like tyre inflation and oil changes, and build towards a modernised roadside business. Inside the store, the work is classic shop management: choosing what to stock, restocking supplies, running the checkout, and managing pricing.

Alawar is also expanding beyond the forecourt. One of the larger additions highlighted after Steam Next Fest is the ability to restore nearby businesses, effectively turning the game into a broader “build the whole rest stop” loop rather than a single-location sim.

Decor and identity are a major part of the appeal. Players can design neon signage and customise the shop’s look in The Last Gas Station, shaping the station’s atmosphere and presentation. It is a common anchor for cosy sims, but here it also serves a secondary purpose: contrast. The more comfortable the station becomes, the more the mystery elements can feel like they do not belong.

The Night Layer Adds a Mystery Choice

The game’s hook is not horror in the traditional sense, but a persistent question mark. Strange things happen after sunset, and players can decide whether to investigate or simply power down and let the night pass. That choice-based framing suggests the mystery is optional, with the game allowing players to keep it purely cosy if that is what they want.

The Last Gas Station Inventory Management

Alawar says the team used the post–Steam Next Fest period to add new areas to explore and additional activities, including new mini-games, alongside the broader expansion systems.

The Last Gas Station launches on Steam on April 28.
