TOEM 2 Brings BAFTA Winning Cosy Photo Sequel Adventure This Summer

TOEM 2 Arrives This Summer

Something We Made and co-publisher popagenda have confirmed that TOEM 2 will launch this summer on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and PC. The announcement was made during the latest Nintendo Indie World presentation, bringing the BAFTA-winning photo-adventure series back into the spotlight five years after its original release.

Alongside the reveal, the original TOEM: A Photo Adventure is currently available at a significant discount on Nintendo Switch, offering newcomers an opportunity to revisit the monochrome charm that defined the first game.

Built for Switch From the Ground Up

According to co-founder Niklas Mikkelsen, TOEM 2 has been built to run at 60 frames per second on the original Nintendo Switch hardware. The team described Nintendo’s support for the first title as pivotal to the studio’s growth, making the sequel’s return to the platform particularly meaningful.

That technical focus suggests the sequel aims to preserve the smooth, relaxed feel that made the original such a standout in the indie space.

A New Photo Journey

TOEM 2 once again centres on exploration and photography. Players set off on a relaxed journey to discover mysterious events known as TOEMs, using an upgraded camera to solve puzzles, uncover secrets and document their travels.

Movement has expanded beyond the original’s gentle stroll, with players now able to run, jump and climb through new cosy environments. Hidden paths, scenic viewpoints and subtle environmental details are designed to reward curiosity rather than rush progression.

The camera itself plays a larger role this time. Beyond snapping images to complete objectives, players will gain access to new attachments that can be used creatively to solve regional challenges.

Quest completion is tracked through a stamp system, filling a journal that unlocks access to new regions while encouraging completionists to catalogue critters and memories along the way.

Designed for a Relaxed Pace

TOEM 2 Arrives This Summer

True to its roots, TOEM 2 places no strict time limits on exploration. Players are encouraged to move at their own pace, sit on benches, listen to music and simply observe the world around them.

With its blend of gentle humour, charming character interactions and low-pressure design, the game looks set to build on the cosy foundation that made the original such a critical success. A specific release date has yet to be announced, but TOEM 2 is confirmed to arrive this summer across Switch, PS5 and PC.
