Anno 117: Pax Romana Expands the Roman Empire with Bold Campaign Choices & Year 1 DLC
Ubisoft has shared new details about the upcoming Anno 117: Pax Romana, including a story-driven campaign featuring two playable protagonists and the first look at the Year 1 Pass, which introduces three DLC expansions. Developed by Ubisoft Mainz, the next entry in the long-running strategy series will launch on November 13 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Dual Protagonists, Divergent Paths
For the first time in Anno history, players can choose between two distinct characters — each offering a different perspective on leadership in the Roman Empire.
As Marcus, players step into the role of a young Roman governor struggling with self-doubt after a surprise appointment. His story explores questions of identity, power, and what it truly means to uphold Roman ideals.

Alternatively, Marcia’s campaign follows a woman whose rise to power challenges the rigid hierarchy of a male-dominated empire. Her narrative focuses on resilience, reform, and the human cost of ambition.
Ubisoft promises a “deeply personal” campaign that reflects the moral complexity of governance, with choices that shape both citizens’ lives and the legacy of Rome itself.
Year 1 Pass: Three Expansions, One Empire
Ubisoft also outlined the first year of post-launch content for Anno 117: Pax Romana, with three major DLCs expanding the game’s scale and depth:
Prophecies of Ash — Set on the largest island ever created in the series, players must navigate a volcanic landscape filled with new deities, rare resources, and volatile alliances.
The Hippodrome — Inspired by the Circus Maximus, this DLC lets players build grand chariot arenas, host races, and attract elite specialists to their cities through spectacle and prestige.
Dawn of the Delta — Set in an Egyptian-inspired frontier, this expansion adds vast deserts, new cultures, and a fresh pantheon of gods as players extend Rome’s influence into new territory.
The Cost of Peace
Ubisoft Mainz describes Anno 117: Pax Romana as a “premiere builder experience” where every decision — from trade routes and religious worship to technological advancement and military might — will carry tangible consequences. The studio aims to deliver a balance between authenticity and creative freedom, giving players the power to define what peace truly costs.
With its dual protagonists, moral storytelling, and ambitious post-launch roadmap, Anno 117: Pax Romana looks set to redefine the scale and ambition of the Anno series when it launches later this year.
