New Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – From the Ashes Gameplay Reveals So’lek’s Vengeful Return
A First Look at So’lek’s Fight for Survival in From the Ashes
Ahead of its December 19 release, Ubisoft has shared the first full gameplay walkthrough for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – From the Ashes, offering a deeper look at the expansion’s story, combat systems, and new threats across the Western Frontier. The upcoming DLC launches the same day as Avatar: Fire and Ash, extending the universe for fans eager to step back into Pandora.
The walkthrough, guided by Creative Director Omar Bouali, presents a focused look at So’lek, a seasoned Na’vi warrior drawn into a fight for his family amid a devastated Kinglor Forest.
Throughout the footage, Ubisoft outlines how the expansion shifts both tone and tempo, introducing more grounded stealth engagements, brutal finishers, and an emphasis on personal stakes as So’lek confronts the invaders threatening the Sarentu clan.
A Ravaged Forest and a Warrior’s Personal War
The walkthrough begins inside the Arahane Hometree, now occupied by the RDA and the ruthless Ash clan. Once a thriving region, Kinglor Forest has been scarred by warfare, creating more oppressive zones where enemies now dominate the terrain.
The video shows So’lek relying on minimal equipment, using only a bow and knife as he infiltrates hostile interiors. His Warrior Senses amplify reading of enemy positions and vulnerabilities, supporting the expansion’s push toward harsher, more intimate combat.
The Ash clan stands as the expansion’s standout addition. This Na’vi faction, driven by brutal devotion and led by Wukula, acts as both a narrative and mechanical disruptor. Their presence challenges So’lek’s beliefs in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – From the Ashes, and the expansion leans heavily into the emotional weight of fighting one’s own people.
Escalating Combat and New Enemy Threats
Alongside the Ash clan, the RDA escalates its own forces. The expansion introduces upgraded AMP suits, Skel units, and hellhounds, which reshape combat encounters into faster and more aggressive engagements.
So’lek’s Ikran, Ìley, plays a heightened tactical role in the expansion. Aerial mobility allows for sudden repositioning, hit-and-run attacks, and new vantage points that combine well with the updated stealth and ranged systems.

Progression has also been overhauled. Defeating enemies rewards players with Dog Tags, which function as experience points, enabling So’lek to expand his melee and stealth abilities through a streamlined system designed specifically for the expansion’s tighter narrative arc.
The walkthrough also previews part of the new score by award-winning composer John Paesano, whose previous work spans Daredevil, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and The Maze Runner. The soundtrack shifts the tone toward something more sombre and atmospheric, reflecting So’lek’s emotional conflict and the harsher environments he must navigate.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – From the Ashes launches on December 19 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
