HoYoVerse Officially Reveals Varsapura with First Gameplay Showcase
A New Project in an Already Crowded Lineup
HoYoVerse has been accelerating its global expansion at a remarkable pace. While many gacha developers focus on only one or two long-term live service titles, HoYoVerse has spent the past year unveiling a growing list of games across multiple genres. Following recent announcements such as Honkai: Nexus Anima and Petit Planet, the studio has introduced another original IP, Varsapura.
Rumours surrounding the project have circulated for months after HoYoVerse registered the trademark earlier this year. With its official reveal, fans now have a clearer sense of the studio’s newest endeavour.
A Long Rumoured Name Now Made Official
The title Varsapura draws from Sanskrit and translates roughly to “City of Rain”. The name has been widely discussed within the community ever since the trademark surfaced online, prompting speculation about its themes and setting. Today’s official reveal confirms that the game is indeed the project associated with that registration, bringing an end to months of speculation.
Alongside the announcement, HoYoVerse released the game’s first full presentation, offering a substantial look at gameplay and worldbuilding.
The First Gameplay Trailer Showcases Combat and Exploration
HoYoVerse premiered a 31-minute gameplay showcase, giving players an extended look at the project’s core structure. Varsapura appears to take the form of an action RPG, featuring real-time combat and a familiar character switching framework that echoes contemporary live service models.
Although the gameplay direction aligns with HoYoVerse’s established expertise, the studio has not yet confirmed the business model. It remains unclear whether Varsapura will adopt a free-to-play gacha structure or explore alternative monetisation approaches.
A New Visual Style for HoYoVerse
One of the most distinctive aspects of the reveal is the visual presentation. Rather than the anime fantasy look associated with titles such as Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, this new title leans into a more realistic 3D style while still maintaining stylised elements in character design.
The environments reveal a grounded, modern, urban aesthetic, marking a notable departure from the studio’s usual fantasy-based worlds. Buildings, vehicles, and contemporary cityscapes provide a sense of familiarity while still supporting supernatural elements.
A Paranormal Urban Setting and a New Organisation

Story information remains limited, but HoYoVerse has confirmed the presence of an organisation known as SEAL, which appears to handle strange supernatural disturbances. The protagonist is prominently featured, wielding an umbrella as a weapon, suggesting unique movesets and thematic flair within the combat system.
The gameplay showcase also includes segments of vehicle-based traversal, with the player driving through city streets. This further reinforces Varsapura‘s commitment to a modern urban open world design.
Development Continues Across Multiple HoYoVerse Studios
HoYoVerse is actively expanding the Varsapura development team, with new recruitment underway in Shanghai, Singapore, and Los Angeles. The project appears to be in a significant production phase, though the studio has not yet provided release targets or platform confirmation.
Players will now be watching for further updates, including narrative details, supported devices, and the monetisation model that will ultimately define its long-term structure.
