The Emperor’s war continues in spectacular style as Big Fan — a Devolver Digital publishing label — and Auroch Digital have unveiled more details about Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2, the sequel to their hit retro-inspired shooter.
A brand-new trailer introduces the game’s latest playable character, Nyra Veyrath, a ruthless and agile Sister of Battle who brings righteous fury and flames to the battlefield.
A New Face of the Emperor’s Wrath
While Nyra may not possess the impenetrable armour of the Space Marines, her lethal precision and mobility make her a force to be reckoned with. As a Celestian of the Sisters of Battle, the all-female militant arm of the Adepta Sororitas, Nyra embodies the faith and fury of the Imperium.
Her fighting style emphasises agility and cleansing fire, with weapons designed to incinerate heretics where they stand.
A Bigger, Bloodier Campaign
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 picks up directly after the first game, expanding into a branching single-player campaign that continues to blend the grimdark universe of Warhammer 40K with the visceral speed and chaos of ‘90s shooters. Players can choose between Nyra Veyrath or Ultramarine Malum Caedo, each with unique weapons, abilities, and playstyles.
From devastating new firearms to explosive melee attacks, Boltgun 2 promises to amplify everything that made the original a cult favourite: pixelated gore, relentless action, and that unmistakable Warhammer brutality.
New Enemies and Old Favourites Return
Players will once again face off against fan-favourite foes like Nurglings and Chaos Cultists, joined by fearsome newcomers such as Bloodletters and their Juggernauts. The developers tease that “greater terrors” await deep within the Emperor’s endless war, suggesting a lineup of formidable new boss encounters.
