Diablo Celebrates 30 Years with New Warlock Class and Major Updates Across All Games

Diablo 30th Anniversary Spotlight Unveils Warlock Across the Franchise

Blizzard Entertainment has officially kicked off its Diablo 30th Anniversary celebrations with a franchise-wide broadcast packed with major announcements, including a brand-new Warlock class spanning multiple titles and a surprise content drop for Diablo II: Resurrected.

The spotlight event sets the tone for what Blizzard describes as a milestone year leading into BlizzCon 2026, with updates and expansions rolling out across all the current live games in the series.

At the centre of it all is the Warlock, a dark spellcaster who channels the power of Hell itself and twists it against demonic forces.

Diablo II: Resurrected Adds First New Class in 25 Years

The biggest surprise of the broadcast was the immediate launch of Reign of the Warlock for Diablo II: Resurrected.

This marks the first new playable class added to the game in over 25 years. The Warlock in this incarnation focuses on demon summoning, binding and transformation, allowing players to dominate the battlefield through hell-forged magic.

Reign of the Warlock also introduces a new endgame challenge system. Players can now Terrorize specific acts to increase both difficulty and rewards. Conquering Terrorized Act bosses on Hell difficulty may grant mystical statues, which can be combined to unlock a punishing new boss encounter known as the Colossal Ancients.

Quality-of-life improvements accompany the update, including loot filters, expanded stash tabs and a new Chronicle system designed to track long-term progression and reward dedicated treasure hunters.

Lord of Hatred Expands the Saga

Diablo IV’s next major expansion, Lord of Hatred, launches on April 28 and places players directly in Mephisto’s path.

The expansion introduces two new playable classes: the Warlock and the previously revealed Paladin. The Warlock leans into a heavy metal aesthetic, wielding chains, flames and destructive powers to turn Hell’s fury against itself. The Paladin stands as a divine counterpoint, embodying holy might in the battle against Mephisto.

Blizzard is also evolving the endgame systems. War Plans will allow players to customise their activity paths, while Echoing Hatred encounters escalate difficulty through increasingly punishing waves of enemies. The expansion culminates in a final confrontation in Skovos, a Mediterranean-inspired region central to humanity’s origins in Sanctuary.

Further details on the Warlock will be shared in a dedicated developer livestream on March 5.

Immortal Roadmap Brings Andariel and Warlock in 2026

Diablo Immortal is also preparing for a major content cycle in 2026. The roadmap includes the return of Andariel, the Maiden of Anguish, along with campaign updates, new zones, events, and collaborations.

The Warlock will arrive in Summer 2026. This version draws from forbidden Vizjerei magic and specialises in commanding demons such as the monstrous Soulgorger. Players will also revisit Lut Gholein, now split between the chaotic Common Ward and the corrupted High Ward, reflecting its tragic transformation since Diablo II.
