WWE 2K26 Goes All In on CM Punk, New Match Types, and the Biggest Roster Yet

WWE 2K26 Officially Announced for March Release

2K has officially revealed WWE 2K26, confirming a March release for the latest entry in its long-running wrestling franchise. Developed once again by Visual Concepts, the new instalment is set to launch across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.

The announcement places a heavy spotlight on CM Punk, who fronts the Standard Edition cover and headlines this year’s 2K Showcase mode, marking his return to a prominent role within the series.

CM Punk Leads the Showcase and the Cover

CM Punk’s presence defines much of WWE 2K26’s identity. As the current World Heavyweight Champion, Punk features on the Standard Edition cover and serves as the focus of the new 2K Showcase mode, titled Punked.

Narrated by Punk himself, the Showcase revisits defining moments, controversies, and rivalries from his career. Alongside recreated matches, the mode also introduces fantasy encounters and a dedicated Showcase Gauntlet designed to push players beyond traditional recreations.

Multiple Editions Lean Into WWE History

In addition to the Standard Edition, WWE 2K26 will launch with several premium editions built around WWE’s past and present.

WWE 2K26 The King of Kings, The Attitude Era, and Monday Night War Editions

The King of Kings Edition centres on Paul Triple H Levesque, celebrating both his in-ring career and his ongoing role behind the scenes. The Attitude Era Edition draws heavily on late 1990s WWE, featuring icons such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Shawn Michaels, Chyna, and The Undertaker.

At the top end is the Monday Night War Edition, which expands beyond WWE to include major WCW figures from the same era, such as Hollywood Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Goldberg, Booker T, and Eric Bischoff.

These premium editions will be available from March 6, while the Standard Edition follows on March 13.

New Match Types and Gameplay Refinements

WWE 2K26 introduces several long-requested match types, including I Quit, Inferno, Three Stages of Hell, and Dumpster matches. Intergender matches are now supported across core modes, while new environmental tools such as stackable tables, thumbtacks, and larger interactive arenas expand match variety.

Visual Concepts has also reworked the Reversals and Stamina systems to add more strategic depth, alongside improved physics interactions designed to make matches feel more dangerous and reactive.

Creation Suite and Mode Expansions

The Creation Suite receives a significant upgrade, doubling Create A Superstar slots to 200 and expanding Community Creations’ image capacity to 2,000. Deeper body morphing and hair customisation options further push player creativity.

MyGM, MyRISE, Universe, MyFACTION, and The Island all see notable expansions. Highlights include expanded match types in MyGM, replayable story paths in MyRISE, the introduction of the WWE Draft in Universe mode, and a revamped progression system for The Island, which is now available on PC for the first time.

Nintendo Switch 2 Specific Features

The Nintendo Switch 2 version includes hardware-specific features such as a touchscreen and mouse support, single-Joy-Con play, GameShare, and GameChat integration. Creation Suite also includes mouse controls for face and body painting, and supports Image Uploader and cross-platform Community Creations.

WWE 2K26 launches March 6 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC for the premium editions. The Standard Edition follows on March 13.
